CUSO INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS ROCK

Canada’s National Volunteer Week: April 12-18, 2015
Cuso International’s work depends on volunteers. Their commitment is a cornerstone of our mission to improve the lives of people living with poverty and inequality across the globe. And when that stone is placed into the waters of international development, it has a ripple effect: volunteer support of inclusive partnerships builds equitable and sustainable development programs. Undeniably, volunteers rock.
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is a time to recognize, celebrate and thank Canada’s volunteers. NVW 2015 takes place April 12-18.
We believe that skilled volunteers in longer term placements are in a unique position to advance international development efforts. Volunteers have been crucial to implementing the UN Millennium Development Goals, and volunteers with Cuso International, working alongside our overseas partners, have made significant contributions to improving equality, health and livelihoods in developing countries. We are actively engaged, along with other volunteer-sending organizations, in ensuring that the contributions volunteering will make to the upcoming Sustainable Development Goals are valued and recognized.
Throughout this week, we are asking our volunteers – past and present – to share their stories on our website and social media channels; follow along with the hashtag #volunteersrock. Although we can only highlight a few of these stories, we are truly thankful to all those who have volunteered with us since Cuso International began sending volunteers to placements in 1961.
