Why leave a gift in your Will?
A gift in your Will to Cuso International is an undeniable commitment to reducing poverty and empowering people. Your generosity will be vital in creating a planet that is equitable and sustainable for each and every person, especially women and girls. This level of impact doesn’t happen in a day. It happens over a lifetime.
This is an unprecedented time in our collective experience, and we know that our donors and the people who care deeply about our mission are intensely impacted by the global pandemic, as are our volunteers, our staff, our partners and the people we serve around the world. Donors have been reaching out to discuss their own personal values as expressed through a future gift in their Will and we are so thankful for this expression of generosity and action.
A decades-long tradition of giving
When Darlene and Mark Johnson began their lives together as a young couple, one of their first acts was to reflect on the values they held in common, and to take purposeful steps to put their values in action. This included beginning a tradition of giving.
More than 46 years later, Mark and Darlene continue to support Cuso International through their charitable donations.
Ways to leave a legacy
A residual gift fulfills all other commitments of your estate (such as gifts to loved ones) first. Then, the remainder is given to Cuso International.
If you wish to amend an existing Will to include Cuso International, here is sample codicil language you can consider in consultation with your financial planner: “I give to Cuso International one hundred per cent (100%) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate for its general purposes.”
This allows you to divide your estate into equal portions, with a specific portion as a charitable gift. This way, Cuso International can be treated like an additional family member in your estate plans.
If you wish to amend an existing Will to include Cuso International, here is sample codicil language you can consider in consultation with your financial planner: “I give to Cuso International ___ per cent of the value of my estate to be used for its general purposes.”
A fixed amount allows you to give a specific dollar amount. This is a good option for those who feel confident in their estate’s ability to meet all their priorities and commitments.
