TYPHOON HAIYAN UPDATE AND GKC’S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
News
Toronto – On Saturday November 28, 2015, two years after Typhoon Haiyan (also known as Typhoon Yolanda) slammed into the Philippines, Gawad Kalinga Philippines and Gawad Kalinga Canada (GKC) will deliver an impact and completion report on their mobilization of volunteers to the devastated areas to build GKC houses in villages in Palo, Leyte.
The report will make evident how Gawad Kalinga Philippines and Gawad Kalinga Canada (GKC) have helped survivors of the typhoon that affected approximately 11 million people in several provinces in the Visayas region. It also acknowledges and honours major GKC donors and sponsors who generously provided donations to the rebuilding programs.
Furthermore, there will be the launch of a tripartite partnership between GK Philippines, GK Canada and Cuso International.
