On February 23, Evelyne Guindon took up her position as Cuso International Chief Executive officer.

β€œI am honoured to join Cuso International, one of the largest independent volunteer-sending organizations in North America,” says Evelyne Guindon, who officially joined Cuso International on Monday, February 23. β€œI am looking forward to working with the board and staff, and to promoting volunteerism and projects that will help improve the livelihoods, health and communities of those living with poverty and inequality around the world.”

Ms. Guindon brings with her a wealth of experience with non-profit and international organizations. Prior to accepting the position of CEO with Cuso International, Evelyne Guindon was a vice-president with Right to Play International. She has also been on the leadership teams of CARE Canada and the Micronutrient Initiative, and brings several years of in-field experience in international development, including 6 years living in southern Africa.

β€œI am joining this impressive organization, as we embark on a new strategic plan with the momentum required to achieve our goal of sending thousands more volunteers into the field to work alongside our partners efficiently, effectively and strategically,” notes Ms. Guindon. β€œOne of my goals is to build additional understanding, appreciation and enthusiasm for the power of volunteerism as a critical tool for social change. It is inspiring that volunteerism is a key component of Canada’s international development assistance.”

During her first week with Cuso International Evelyne Guindon attended a conversation organized by the Government of Canada and the Gates Foundation. The event, held on February 25, included Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Bill Gates.
