CUSO INTERNATIONAL WELCOMES GOVERNMENT INVESTMENT IN YOUTH
Cuso International welcomes the March 28th announcement by the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, of the Canadian government’s renewed support for the International Youth Internship Program and the International Aboriginal Youth Internships (IAYI) initiative. These programs connect young Canadians to meaningful international experiences, building their skills and enhancing their future career prospects.
In 2013-2014 through the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), Cuso International recruited 20 recent graduates to support the work of our partners in Jamaica, Dominica, Peru, Bolivia, Cameroon and Guyana. Interns like Asia Clarke, who used her experience working with youth and running her own business to support the youth entrepreneurship training program of the Dominica Youth Business Trust. Other interns completed market studies, facilitated workshops on violence prevention and gender equality and increased the capacity of partner organizations by conducting financial assessments.
