About E-Volunteering

 

Cuso International’s e-volunteering program welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international program partners and volunteers remotely. E-Volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the extra advantage of fitting into one's regular weekly schedule without needing a passport. Contributing and giving back to a community, gaining new skills, and making new connections are common benefits of e-volunteering and for Cuso International it is a great opportunity to engage more people in its mission.  

E-Volunteers are expected to supply their own basic home office equipment, Internet and have a moderate knowledge of computer technology. Some of our partners are located in remote areas with unreliable internet connection. In addition, for some of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers so flexibility and patience is a valuable e-volunteer characteristic.

E-Volunteers spend approximately 3-4 months in a placement and spend 2-10 hours per week working as an e-volunteer depending on the project requirements.

The E-Volunteer’s Role

 

Do you love writing for the web? How about newsletter and annual reports? If yes, then this e-volunteer placement may be for you.

Our partner Next Gen is seeking e-volunteer support with activities geared at boosting their online visibility. You will be responsible for creating content for the website and blogs. You will also support communications content for their annual report.

As an e-volunteer, you will:

- Support the creation of content for website re-design

- Support the writing of press releases and content for blogs and articles

Essential Academic Qualifications:

-A degree, or currently studying towards a degree, in communications or a related field.

Essential Professional Background:

- 2-5 years of experience in content creation
- Effective and proven writing skills
- Solid knowledge of website content creation
- Experience in project development

Next Gen Creators

Next Gen Creators is a nonprofit organization started in 2015 to help provide a platform from aspiring and existing developers in the Caribbean to showcase their skills and create solutions to the world’s biggest problems.

We have evolved to help young entrepreneurs and techies across the Caribbean to innovate, collaborate and learn through a series of specially curated events and programs.

Next Gen Creators is the organizer of Coders Of The Caribbean, Converge Summit and pitch partners for the Diamond Challenge in Jamaica.

At Next Gen Creators, they endeavor to transform the tech and startup ecosystem in the Caribbean region. Programs offered are: Hackathons, coding bootcamps, coding workshops, tech/start-up meet-ups and start-up summits.

Next Gen:

  1. i) Sensitizes- Through our school tours we delve into various Caribbean communities to explore what “tech” means to the students
  2. ii) Creates Community Every month we bring like -minded individuals together to collaborate on ideas and talk about the future of the tech economy.

iii)          Trains Our coding workshops, hackathons, mentorship sessions and soon our coding bootcamps instill best coding and business practices.

  1. iv) Provides Opportunity We help our community members excel by offering access to employment through our partner companies and by providing seed grants for their startup ideas
