About E-Volunteering

Cuso International’s e-volunteering program welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international program partners and volunteers remotely. E-Volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the extra advantage of fitting into one's regular weekly schedule without needing a passport. Contributing and giving back to a community, gaining new skills, and making new connections are common benefits of e-volunteering and for Cuso International it is a great opportunity to engage more people in its mission.

E-Volunteers are expected to supply their own basic home office equipment, Internet and have a moderate knowledge of computer technology. Some of our partners are located in remote areas with unreliable internet connection. In addition, for some of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers so flexibility and patience is a valuable e-volunteer characteristic.

E-Volunteers spend approximately 3-4 months in a placement and spend 2-10 hours per week working as an e-volunteer depending on the project requirements.

About Us

Union de Artesanos de la Tierra

The Union of Earth Craftsmen (UNIARTE), is a traditional cultural identity organization with a vision of social enterprise. Founded on November 27, 2004 by a group of indigenous youth (Chiquitanos and Guarayos), it brings together 60 artisans.

This venture, started from a group of young people with artistic experiences and a desire to improve their own economic and social situation through their art. UNIARTE was born with the purpose to support training, joint production, marketing and commercialization of handicraft, to preserve and promote their cultural identity.

The objectives of UNIARTE aim to generate income for native artisans and to provide an opportunity for technical training and higher education. Their approach promotes culture and sustainability, through a respectful relationship with nature through use of natural materials and facilitating joint commercialization. UNIARTE are working to increase participation of indigenous women and helping to create access to markets for their products.

UNIARTE has "Cultural Capital" and one objective is to share their experience, knowledge and roots of their lands, bringing to the partnership "the love for the beautiful and the useful" to generate self-employment and sustainable socio-economic self-development for their communities through art.
