About E-Volunteering

Cuso International’s e-volunteering program welcomes new and returning volunteers to work with our international program partners and volunteers remotely. E-Volunteering offers many of the benefits gained from international volunteering, while having the extra advantage of fitting into one's regular weekly schedule without needing a passport. Contributing and giving back to a community, gaining new skills, and making new connections are common benefits of e-volunteering and for Cuso International it is a great opportunity to engage more people in its mission.

E-Volunteers are expected to supply their own basic home office equipment, Internet and have a moderate knowledge of computer technology. Some of our partners are located in remote areas with unreliable internet connection. In addition, for some of our partners, this is their first experience working with e-volunteers so flexibility and patience is a valuable e-volunteer characteristic.

E-Volunteers spend approximately 3-4 months in a placement and spend 2-10 hours per week working as an e-volunteer depending on the project requirements.

The E-Volunteer’s Role

As part of our work on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, Cuso International in Bolivia has been working with men and boys to promote positive masculinities as an alternative to harmful identities that justify the use of violence.   Through the collaborative effort of volunteers, staff and partners we have produced a workshop facilitator guide in English and in Spanish (available in July).

In preparation for the upcoming GESI workshop in Bolivia in August, we are seeking a skilled desktop publisher e-volunteer to help us to create a document template, format and lay out the document to provide a professional finish so that they can be shared across the rest of the organization.

The guides are 70 pages in length and the English version is available now for publishing and the Spanish version will be available July 20th (or sooner) with a late July very early August delivery date.

An intermediate level of Spanish is request to ensure proper lay out of the Spanish version of the guide.

As an e-volunteer, you will:

-To format and lay out the English and Spanish version of the GESI facilitator's guide.

Essential Academic Qualifications:

- A degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field.

Essential Professional Background:

-At least two years’ experience as a desktop publisher or similar professional experience.

-Experience with and access to desktop publishing tools such as Adobe InDesign.

-Intermediate level of Spanish (reading and writing)
