Cuso International is available to comment about development issues & international volunteering.
"As a recent United Nations report on development stresses, real change requires not only economic investment, but also human investment. That philosophy of human potential lies at the heart of international volunteering."

Key facts on Cuso International
-
Cuso International is an international development organization that works through volunteers. It evolved from the merger of two Canadian development NGOs – CUSO (est. 1961) and VSO Canada (est. 1995). We have sent over 15,000 volunteers abroad since 1961. The merged organization was originally known as CUSO-VSO, but has since become Cuso International.
-
We promote volunteering to fight global poverty and disadvantage. Instead of sending money, food or clothes, we send skilled people from a range of professions.
-
Our volunteers come from many professional backgrounds, and many ages. We recruit volunteers from Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, and many developing countries in which we work.
-
Cuso International is one of the largest independent volunteer-sending organizations in North America. We are a strategic alliance partner of VSO, one of the world’s largest volunteer-sending development NGOs.
-
Cuso International volunteers work in many countries throughout Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
-
We do long-term development rather than short-term emergency relief. We respond to needs identified by our partnerships with local government agencies, non-governmental organizations and local community groups.
