Volunteer alumni

Whether you completed your placement months ago or decades ago, you can stay involved with Cuso International - and help us tell your story.

Across Canada and the United States, returned volunteer alumni of Cuso International - and of CUSO and VSO Canada - are changing the way that their friends, neighbours and colleagues think about development.

Plan a global education project or help Cuso International recruit and support the next generation of volunteers.

Please make sure we can reach you.

We have lost touch with many of you who dedicated parts of your lives to creating a better world. We would love to hear from you so we can be in touch on a regular basis again. There have been many changes in development and we would like to help you open a dialogue with like-minded people.

To contact us, or if you are in communication with past volunteers who haven’t heard from us in a while, please send current contact info to contactupdates@cusointernational.org

Returned volunteer alumni reintegration workshops

Newly returned? Get re-settled and enjoy a weekend with other RV alumni.

All alumni are invited to attend a reintegration workshop at Cuso International’s training center in Ottawa, usually scheduled 3–12 months after you return to North America from your placement. To find out about upcoming workshops contact us at reintegration@cusointernational.org.

Cuso International Catalyst magazine

Check out the latest edition of the Cuso International Catalyst magazine. The twice-yearly Catalyst includes stories on Cuso International volunteers, as well as information on the global projects that volunteers work on.

Volunteer alumni profiles

Visit our story section and look for profiles of our returned volunteer alumni - and while there read stories about the current volunteers and partner groups working at the grassroots of global change.

Volunteer alumni books

Many returned volunteers go on to write books about their overseas experiences. Find out more by scrolling down to the books section in our online resource library.

Recruit the next generation of volunteers

Cuso International holds recruitment and outreach events in cities across Canada and the United States. We’re always looking for alumni to help answer questions and share stories of their placement overseas. If you are able to help us recruit, please contact one of these public engagement officers or email outreach@cusointernational.org:
